The Prefecture of Thesprotia covers the northwestern part of the region of Epirus. With an area of 1,515 sq. km. and a population of 46,000 inhabitants, it is one of the most populated prefectures in the country. Its capital is Igoumenitsa, with the largest harbor in northwestern Greece.
