Sivota is known historical for the sea battle in 433 B.C. between the Kerkyrians and the Athenians with their allies Corinthians. In 1453 it conquered by the Turks and it was renamed Mourtos. In 1717 the Venetians occupied it, later in 1797 the French occupied it as well and finally it became free in 1913.
